Summary
This untitled stone carries a full set of capital letters followed by an ampersand and the letters PJ; the incised letters were painted and gilded. The style of the letter carving is Roman Inscriptional, based on the letters carved in the Trajan Column from Rome, first century AD. The slate size is 50.5 x 68.5 cm. in a frame measuring 62 x 80 cm. It was purchased from Joshua Heller Rare Books, Inc., in 1991.

The stone carries a full set of upper and lower case letters plus numbers; the incised letters were gilded. The slate size (sight) is 52 x 75.5 cm. in a frame measuring 62.5 x 86 cm. Formerly owned by Bonnie and Don Nelson, it was purchased from Jeff Weber Rare Books in 2009.

Summary
This stone carries the letters SPQR ABCDET, & [brushstrokes]; the incised letters were painted and gilded. The backing board is inscribed: "Basic Strokes made by the sign-writer who wrote & chiselled [sic] the Trajan Inscription / Edw M. Catich / June 1, 1957." The slate size (sight) is 49 x 70 cm. in a frame measuring 59 x 80 cm. It was given to the library by Dr. Robert H. Leslie in June 1975.
