Summary:
This stone carries the letters SPQR ABCDET, & [brushstrokes]; the incised letters were painted and gilded. The backing board is inscribed: "Basic Strokes made by the sign-writer who wrote & chiselled [sic] the Trajan Inscription / Edw M. Catich / June 1, 1957." The slate size (sight) is 49 x 70 cm. in a frame measuring 59 x 80 cm. It was given to the library by Dr. Robert H. Leslie in June 1975.
