"Foundry commenced in the year 1840, by the late S.N. Dickinson, a distinguished printer and type founder; address the proprietors, Phelps and Dalton, no. 52 Washington Street, Boston, Mass."--Title page Dickinson Type Foundry was purchased by Sewell Phelps and Michael Dalton after the death of Samuel N. Dickinson in 1848. The business operated under the name of the Dickinson Type Foundry, Phelps & Dalton successors until approximately 1863. This catalog includes: type metal, equipment, cuts, ornaments, and rule; some borders and check tints printed in multiple colors. It includes a small amount of music type and a price list --Annenberg, M., "Type Foundries of America and Their Catalogs," pages 128-129.
