The Keystone Type Foundry was established in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by Francis Wayland Ayer in 1888. Ayer had previously owned the advertising agency N. W. Ayer & Son and acquired a printer's supply house, the Mather Manufacturing Company. This catalog chiefly contains type metal with display faces with a very small set of ornaments, rule, and equipment.
