Summary:
"The H.C. Hansen Type Foundry was established by H. C. Hansen, who was born in Norway and immigrated to Boston, where he found employment with the Dickinson Type Foundry in 1868. After the 1872 fire at that foundry, Hansen decided to go into business for himself, implementing many efficiencies in practice. This catalog includes: type metal, equipment, presses, wood type, cuts, ornaments, and rule. The preface, signed H. C. Hansen, notes the firm's "new and commodious quarters, 190-192 Congress Street." --Annenberg, M. "Type Foundries of America and Their Catalogs," page 145-49.
