A book-binding manual that includes a description of the origin and progress of book-binding. It was created by the publisher, expressly for the use of his numerous patrons. Publisher's advertisements on p. 48-64. Folded catalog page depicting an embossing press within front endpapers. Folded letter pasted into front endpapers and signed by Douglas Leighton is addressed to John Carter. In the letter Leighton offers his thoughts on the materials used in the book and its content.
