Summary:
This leaf (plate 79) was taken from Volume II (1897) of the series Les Maîtres de l'Affiche. The embossed stamp of the series is found in the lower right corner of the lithograph. The leaf was originally published in Belfast and London by David Allen & Sons, 1894 as an illustration for Sydney Grundy's play "The New Woman". The poster depicts a woman wearing with lorgnette sitting on a bench. On the floor next to and behind her are books and strewn papers. An academic "key" hangs in frame behind her. At lower left is a partially smoked cigarette with a tendril of smoke.
