"This type specimen was designed by Thérèse Hannigan, professor in the New Media Design and Imaging program, College of Imaging Arts and Sciences at RIT. The design is based on a layout by Bruce Rogers and is set in his typeface Centaur, a favorite of Frank Romano. The text was originally published in Printing History 26 (2003) under the title "The Phototypesetting Era"; this excerpt is reprinted here by the permission of The American Printing History Association."
