Summary:
The Union Type Foundry was founded in 1883 by former employees of the Mechanics Type Foundry in Chicago, Illinois. By 1890, the plant had moved to 337 Dearborn Street and would become part of the consolidation of foundries in the American Type Founders Company in 1892. This catalog includes: type metal, equipment, presses, wood type, cuts, ornaments, and rule. It also includes German type. Although undated, it appears to match with the "c.1891" book listed in Annenberg; a date of 1890 or later is suggested by the address of the business given in the imprint.
