Summary:
The American Type Founders Company (ATF) was formed out of a business necessity. Led by John Marder of the Chicago Type Foundry and Arthur Brower of the Union Type Foundry, several other type founders created a combined company of twenty-three plants scattered across the United States, which was incorporated by November 1892. This 1899 catalog, which is not in Annenberg, includes primarily type metal and a small amount of ornaments. It also includes an illustration of a bookbinders' lettering pallet for sale on page 2.
